I Selvatici is a small viticultural estate situated on the hills of the Valdarno, two kilometres west of the Chianti Classico region and just below the Badia a Coltibuono. The current generation of the Sala family, brothers Fausto and Carlo, have undertaken lengthy studies and experimentation in their search to preserve and ameliorate the antique traditions of Chianti.
Our wines are the fruits of long and carefully researched production methods, both in the vineyards and in the transformation of the grapes into wine. Following the development of our wines in the cellar is the final stage of a scrupulous process already carried out in the vineyards.
Nearly all the estate's vineyards are south facing and at an average height of 250 meters. Ideal exposure to sunlight guarantees optimal growth, but of even greater importance is the arduous clonal selection undertaken over the past 15 years resulting in the discovery and preservation of superior clones.
Cultivation of the best clones of each particular grape variety, unwavering attention to the vines, and meticulous selection at harvest time lead to the finished product. Our wines grasp, deepen, and push forward the ageless fruits of Tuscan origin. They are expressions of Tuscany, results of the before and after; wines which could not be from anywhere else.
